Frequently Asked Questions about

The USS Zydecoldsmobile

What’s the website for?

Sonny Landreth is always working, always on the go—and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with everything he’s got rolling! While Sonny's official newsletter, SlideLines, is published annually, The USS Zydecoldsmobile provides a targeted place for updates on Sonny’s work, his performing and recording activities.

How often will we see “new” news?

The updates will be published 3 times during the year: in July/August, in October/November, and in April/May. You can catch up on "the real deal" with SlideLines in late winter/early spring! As new information arrives, it will be added at the top of the news page , until about the middle of the second month in a cycle. The next issue will summarize the previous 3 months and add new information. News won’t be held back if it’s urgent—such as a show just added, with Sonny playing “this week”!

I have a question about something, but I don’t want to bother Sonny.

Post your question here in the Zydecoldsmobile Forum (discussion board). We’ll get the answer back to you ASAP. And that’s a good place to talk about matters related to Sonny’s work too. For instance, readers seem to really want to talk about gear, so there’s a place to do that. This is a moderated board, and any talk that’s not about Sonny’s work won’t be posted (sorry)—but a couple of great fan boards to meet/make friends are at Brokenhearted Road (sonnylandrethfan.com) and SonnysKrewe.org.

What if I want to write to Sonny?

Personal messages will get to Sonny most efficiently through the comments form on his website, which is also linked from “Write to Sonny” here on the news page. Remember that while he appreciates your remarks, he just can’t reply to all those notes.

What if I want to tell Sonny about an article he’s mentioned in?

If you want to both alert him to a publication and have it announced here, you can email the webmaster to post it here on the Reviews page (coming soon).

I have some good pictures I took of Sonny.

Great—he’d love to see them! Click on
this link (or the one at the bottom of the photography page--that's where the detailed instructions are).

Why does the site seem to have several names?

You’ve probably gotten here by more than one route—that’s so that folks can find it easily. One of those names is “zydecoldsmobile.org,” because Sonny’s favorite charity is the Tommy Comeaux Fund, named for his best friend. Folks in many parts of the music world are raising funds to help establish an Endowed Chair of Traditional Music at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in honor of Tommy. An enjoyable way to contribute is buying T-shirts and other merchandise;
 soon, you’ll be able to get “USS Zydecoldsmobile” stuff here and support the cause!
